OPP, Alabama (May 24, 2020) — Bubba Pollard emerged as the king of South Alabama Speedway on Saturday after scoring a record-extending fifth win in the Baby Rattler 125 after battling with polesitter Stephen Nasse for several laps in the late going. Nasse would end up third after newcomer to SAS Wes Griffith Jr surprised the crowd with a second place effort after having spun early in the event.

The 15th Annual Grasshopper Pro Late Rattler 125, otherwise known as the Baby Rattler 125, was delayed by a few hours after a storm drenched the track just after qualifying.

Polesitter Stephen Nasse led the bulk of the race, with Pollard in tow every step of the way. A series of cautions slowed the pace down a bit, and with each restart, Nasse was able to gap Pollard rather quickly. That is, until lap 91.

With just under 40 laps to go, Pollard began working the high side, looking for a way around Nasse. With 34 laps left, Pollard found his way around Nasse and assumed the lead.

After spinning his tires following a restart, Nasse would spend the next 28 laps working back to the front battle as Ryan Paul held strong in second, with Wes Griffith in third.

With six laps to go, a caution from an incident between Daniel Dye and Korey Ruble set up a restart between Pollard and Paul. After a clean start up front, Brandon Curren spun further back in the field in turn two, bringing the caution back out before the lap was completed.

On the final restart, with six laps remaining, something broke on the number 18 machine of Ryan Paul, and would see him drop through the field and out of contention. Meanwhile, both Griffith and Nasse were able to get by Paul cleanly, although Pollard had already checked out, cruising to his fifth win in this event.
